- A coronary calcium score is a numerical representation of the amount of calcium, or hard plaque, that has formed in the arteries of the heart. Calcium develops in the late stages of atherosclerosis. Patients with a score of zero have a very low chance of heart disease while patients with higher numbers have an expected higher chance of heart disease. This test is performed through various local radiology offices. Currently our preferred radiology location offers the test for $99 payable at the time of service.
